Life in Fascist Italy Life in Mussolini's Italy was little different from other dictatorships which existed between 1918 and 1939. Nazi Germany and Stalin's Russia were to use (and expand) on developments that had been in existence in Fascist Italy since the 1920's. People had little control over their personal life and the state controlled as much of you as they could.

The Lightning 'started' life as the P1 - a prototype designed by W. Petter. The P1's shape near enough mirrored the now familiar Lightning's shape and was the first British designed aircraft to fly at Mach 2 - this it achieved on November 25 th 1958 in a test flight.

The United Nations has many specialised agencies which work usually away from the public eye. While the United Nations has become part of the news via its political involvement in such issues as the Middle East, Korea and the Congo, the work of its agencies goes on year in and year out addressing such problems as humanitarian aid, world health and the international improvement in working conditions.
The League of Nations was to play a crucial role in Palestine after the League of Nations was created after World War One. The League of Nations was dominated by Britain and French in its first few years as they were the only world powers in the League that had the necessary clout to enforce its authority - though after the casualties both nations experienced in World War One, this apparent authority was debatable.
The United Nations has been involved in various problems in the Middle East since 1948. Whereas the Korean War and the Congo issues were settled in the sense that there was no further outbreak of hostilities, the United Nations has not managed to do the same in the Middle East. Wars have broken out in 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973 and severe problems exist to this day.

The 2008 Democrat Party primaries ran their full course from January to June. At the start of 2008, many pollsters believed that Hilary Clinton would win the Democrat Party nomination for presidency with a degree of ease. It had been hoped that the 2006-midterm elections in America would not degenerate into elections as to who has raised the most amount of money or that negative campaigning would dominate the issue. With regards to the 2006 midterms in America, neither seems to have worked. The 2006 midterm elections have already been dubbed “the most expensive US Congressional election” in history” - 'The Times' - October 27 th 2006.
When the new Congress convenes in January 2007, this will be the current representation (November 13 th 2006): House: Democrats: 229 Republicans: 196 This gives the Democrats a healthy majority of 33 in the House. The Democrats gained 28 House seats from the Republicans Senate: Democrats: 49 Republicans: 49 Independents: 2 The Democrats gained 6 Senate seats from the Republicans This gives the Democrats a majority of 2 only if the two Independents (Joe Lieberman from Connecticut and Bernie Sanders from Vermont) vote with them.
